Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, occupied by Russian forces since the early days of the war, could be restored and protected by US ownership – at least according to the Americans.

During a telephone conversation with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, US President Donald Trump apparently suggested the transfer of control for the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, the biggest in Europe.

During a phone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Wednesday, Trump said the best way for Kyiv to protect its four nuclear power plants is to give them away to the US. “American ownership of those plants could be the best protection for that infrastructure,” Trump said.
