A tall fountain of lava is spewing from a volcano on Hawaii’s Big Island again. Webcam video from Tuesday shows vigorous streams of glowing-red molten rock in the latest episode of an on-and-off eruption.

Kilauea's latest fountaining episode began on March 4 and marks the 12th since December. The USGS video shows lava fountaining from the Halemaʻumaʻu crater on March 5.

Incredible footage of the Kilauea Volcano shows lava shooting over 600 feet into the air earlier this week on Tuesday evening. These are the largest eruptions seen in over 11 episodes since Kilauea first came back to life on December 23rd.

The USGS said lava fountains from the north vent reached a maximum height of between 500 and 600 feet before they started to decrease.

Kilauea, one of the world’s most active volcanoes, has been erupting on and off for nearly two months since it burst to life on Dec. 23. The eruption has been taking place at the volcano’s summit crater inside Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. No residential areas have been threatened by lava.
