Connecticut governor, lawmakers, reach deal to avoid veto override on $40 million for special education, $3 million for social service providers.

After a round of back-and-forths between Gov. Ned Lamont and Democratic legislative leaders over how much more spending the state can afford, the governor said Monday afternoon that he will veto portions of two bills passed last week by the legislature.

Lamont said he still fully supports increasing funding for special education and pointed to the $54 million increase in his budget proposal.
