In case you don’t remember, the first film followed Miguel, a 12-year-old boy who accidentally entered the Land of the Dead and wound up discovering the truth about his great, great grandfather. By the end, Miguel manages to convince his living family that Hector isn’t the enemy of their family and helps Mama Coco peacefully cross over.

Disney and Pixar are gearing up for a return to the Land of the Dead with Coco 2 arriving in theaters in 2029.

Now, Disney and Pixar CEO Bob Iger has confirmed a follow-up to Coco is officially on the way – although fans will have to wait until 2029 to see it. "While the film is just in the initial stages, we know it will be full of humour, heart and adventure," Iger said during The Walt Disney Company's Annual Meeting of Shareholders.
