Multiple people were rescued after an airboat overturned in the Florida Everglades in western Miami-Dade when the operator, who was later arrested, made a sharp turn to see an alligator.

In the narrow slough, the airboat ran over the gator, which sank out of sight. The men worked for more than an hour with a grappling hook before they were able to snag the submerged carcass.
