A Southwest Airlines flight almost took off from a taxiway, rather than a runway, at Orlando International Airport in Florida before an air traffic controller stopped the plane, officials said.

When the plane started to accelerate on the parallel taxiway instead of the runway, an air traffic controller canceled the takeoff clearance. No injuries were reported. "Southwest is engaged with the NTSB and FAA to understand the circumstances of the event," a spokesperson for the airline said. The flight was bound for Albany, New York.
