Southwest Airlines has heard all the negativity surrounding the company's widely unpopular decision to begin charging for checked bags and seems to be taking the wrong message from the backlash.

Southwest Airlines will begin charging for checked bags at the end of May. Amid sinking profits, the budget airline announced in a press release Tuesday that it's ending its long-standing policy of allowing passengers to check two bags for free,

Two free checked bags will no longer be a perk for all Southwest fliers. The company announced it's new bag policy will take effect May 28.

For 50 years, you could book a flight on Southwest Airlines and know that you would not have to pay to check your luggage. It was a luxury that the airline bragged about for years. Southwest has just announced a change in policy that will now charge you for your checked bags.
