A 66-year-old woman was fatally shot Saturday afternoon in the parking lot of a Walmart in south suburban Lansing, according to officials.

Yellow police tape cordoned off a large section of the north side of the supercenter's parking lot for several hours while the investigation continued.

Lansing Police Officers located a 66-year-old female gunshot victim in the parking lot. Medical care was initiated, and the victim was later pronounced deceased at an area hospital. There is no reason to believe any further danger to the public exists in relation to this incident.
