Mayor Brandon Scott and the Baltimore Police Department on Friday filed a joint motion with the U.S. Justice Department contending the city has fulfilled its obligations with two sections of a federal consent decree.
In a joint motion, City Mayor Brandon Scott, and City Police asked a federal court to release the city's police department from oversight in two sections of its consent decree.
The consent decree made BPD overhaul its transportation policies. More than a year after it was found in compliance of this section of the consent decree, BPD published a self assessment through audits and vehicle inspections. BPD also improved their support for officers, namely checking on their mental health and well-being.
