Long Island will be sunny and slightly chilly on Saturday as high winds and low humidity create an "elevated fire risk" throughout the Island, according to a statement from the National Weather Service.
Long Island is expected to see a three-day stretch of rainy, windy conditions, beginning Wednesday, with temperatures reaching into the 50s, the highest of 2025. The rain is expected to be timed to Wednesday's evening commute.
A wind advisory is in effect for Long Island Thursday night and Friday, according to the National Weather Service. The wind advisory will be in effect from 6 p.m. Thursday night until 4 p.m. Friday, the NWS said.
The last of four blazes that began in Suffolk County on Saturday has been put out, but Long Island and the Hudson Valley still faced a high fire risk on Sunday, officials said.
