Drag queens Fatsy Cline and Varla Jean Merman hosted the 61st annual Bourbon Street Awards at noon Tuesday on the corner of St. Anne and Dauphine streets. The annual event spotlights elaborate, often satirical, costumes while raising money for charity.
"Mardi Gras isn't just about Mardi Gras Day, which is a big day, but it really is about the over two weeks that we've managed through again," said Cantrell.

NOPD says a man was wounded in a shooting in the French Quarter. “Police were called to the 200 block of Bourbon Street shortly before 10:45 p.m.,”
Bourbon Street was born in 1722, after a September hurricane wiped away four years of development in the original city of New Orleans.
New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell said the removal of the memorial was done in coordination with victims of the New Year's Day terror attack as well as family of the victims who died.
