IOWA CITY, Iowa (KWQC) - A 99-year-old woman was hit and killed by a city firetruck in Iowa City early Saturday morning. Iowa State Patrol said at 7:13 a.m., an Iowa City firetruck was leaving a medical call at Legacy Senior Living at 1020 S Scott Blvd when it hit the woman. Troopers identified the woman as Evelyn Bothmer.
PAGE COUNTY, Iowa (WOWT) - One teen is dead after a fiery crash in southwest Iowa early Sunday morning. According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash took place on 210th Street east of Willow Avenue in Page County around 2:40 a.m. Sunday.
Evelyn Bothmer, 99, was struck by an Iowa City Fire Department truck that was leaving the scene, according to an Iowa State Patrol crash report. Bothmer, who was described as a pedestrian, died at the scene. The truck was driven by Brandon Pflanzer, who is also president of the union representing the department's firefighters.
The Iowa State Patrol says it happened north of Webster City just before 6:30 am Friday. Troopers say Logan Baldwin, 16 of Webster City, was driving a tractor south on White Fox Road when he was struck from behind by a southbound vehicle driven by Brian Vandeer, 69 of Webster City. The collision took place near the intersection with 203 rd Street.
