New state budget outlook has Minnesota staring at a $6 billion deficit
The Fiscal Year 2026-27 projected balance for the State of Minnesota is now $456 million surplus. That is $160 million lower than prior estimates. The projected general fund shortfall for the Fiscal Year 2028-29 biennium is now $5.995 billion. That is $852 million worse than November estimates.
