The boxing world was left flabbergasted after Gervonta “Tank” Davis escaped Barclays Center on Saturday with a majority draw against Lamont Roach. The 30-year-old Davis, who is undefeated and was a heavy favorite, took a knee in the middle of the ninth round before retreating to his corner, where a member of his team wiped his face with a towel.

Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach battled to a majority draw on Saturdayr. Many believe Roach was robbed. It may not be too late for the result to change.

Lamont Roach Jnr is glad that his team pursued an appeal of his controversial March 1 draw with Gervonta Davis – but Roach also isn’t shocked that the New York State Athletic Commission declined their appeal.

The key moment happened in round nine when, having been hit by a punch from Roach, Davis then waited a moment before taking a knee. He then rushed to his corner and asked for his face to be wiped, later saying that “grease” from his hair was “burning” his eyes.

Gervonta Davis kept hold of his WBA Lightweight World Title in Brooklyn after a majority draw with Lamont Roach Jr.

The New York State Athletic Commission released a statement addressing the controversial non-call in Gervonta Davis vs. Lamont Roach.

The New York Commission admitted that referee Steve Willis made a mistake in not calling a knockdown against Gervonta Davis, but declined to alter the decision of their fight last Saturday.
