China and Canada on Tuesday retaliated against newly imposed U.S. tariffs, announcing their own levies on U.S. goods that could further disrupt U.S. trade with its top three trading partners.

Canadian and Chinese officials say they were already helping reduce fentanyl smuggling. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said fentanyl crossing the northern border is "near zero."
