The temblor happened at 1:03 p.m. Pacific time about seven miles southwest of Westlake Village, Calif., data from the agency shows. U.S.G.S. data earlier reported that the magnitude was 4.2.

A 4.1-magnitude earthquake shook Malibu, the San Fernando Valley and other parts of Southern California on Sunday afternoon.
