The Miami Dolphins applied tenders to keep two exclusive rights free agents, linebacker Cameron Goode and offensive tackle Kion Smith, the team announced Wednesday. Goode, 26, was added by the Dolphins in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL draft and emerged as a reliable special teamer in 2023.

Exclusive rights free agents are players with two or fewer accrued seasons and an expiring contract. The Dolphins merely had to extend a qualifying offer of a one-year contract at the league minimum salary based on the player’s experience level in order to keep Goode and Smith from negotiating with other teams and retaining them for 2025.

Jones, 27, began his career with the Dolphins and later had a two-year stint with the Detroit Lions before returning to Miami on a one-year deal in 2024. Jones beat out several veteran linemen -- including Teair Tart, Neville Gallimore, and Jonathan Harris -- for a spot on the Dolphins' roster and was a starter at nose tackle for the team.
