Emory University will make significant reductions to expenditures and freeze staff hiring due to recent federal funding changes that bring a “significant disruption to our finances,” according to an email from President Gregory L.

The President of Emory University announced that with potential changes looming, the university is now on a hiring freeze.

Citing the “many directives, policy changes, and legislative proposals from the federal government” in recent weeks, Emory University announced a hiring freeze and limits to faculty hiring, as well as a freeze on changes to compensation.

Alongside the hiring freeze, the university is reducing operational spendings and evaluating how federal policy shifts could impact research funding.
