A group of thieves broke into or tried to break into nine north suburban businesses in about 30 minutes early Friday morning, Highland Park officials said.

The shooter pleaded guilty to all 21 counts of first-degree murder and 48 counts of attempted murder. He was accused of killing seven people and wounding dozens more at Highland Park's Fourth of July parade in 2022.

Crimo told Judge Victoria Rossetti that he would change his plea to guilty to all 69 counts filed against him. "This was not a negotiation," Lake County State's Attorney Eric Rinehart told reporters.
