Over the objections of her attorney, Aimee Book took the witness stand in her defense Friday but she did not get a chance to address her role as the alleged ringleader of an extraordinary $250 million fraud scheme before the judge ended testimony for the day in the federal trial.

For weeks, the big question was whether Aimee Bock would testify in her own defense. Friday afternoon, right after the prosecution rested their case, the answer came when she took the stand.

In text messages that Feeding Our Future founder Aimee Bock wrote to others charged in a $250 million conspiracy to defraud taxpayer-funded child nutrition programs, she discussed scorched-earth tactics for dealing with critics of her nonprofit.

The video also showed Bock receiving a plaque of appreciation, which said, “In recognition and appreciation for your outstanding leadership.”
