Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass announced Friday she has fired Los Angeles Fire Chief Kristin Crowley, citing in part her response to last month’s devastating wildfires, among the most destructive fires in California’s history.

A petition is underway for recalling Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass over her wildfire response. The effort would need to collect a minimum of approximately 330,000 signatures to force a recall, during which voters would also be able to select their choice of replacement mayor to serve the rest of the term.
