The Edmonton Oilers are positioning themselves for the playoffs, acquiring forwards Trent Frederic and Max Jones from the Boston Bruins in a multiteam trade on Tuesday.

Two forwards who didn’t have the seasons the Bruins had hoped for are headed to the defending Western Conference champs as Boston dealt its most accomplished fighter. The Devils confirmed that the Bruins are shipping Trent Frederic and Max Jones to the Edmonton Oilers as part of a three-way trade with the New Jersey.

The Edmonton Oilers have swung a big deal Tuesday morning, flipping a pair of prospects and draft picks in part of a three-way trade that will see them acquire forwards Trent Frederic and Max Jones from the Boston Bruins.

Trent Frederic has been traded from the Bruins to the Oilers as part of a three-team transaction. The Devils are retaining 50% of Frederic’s $2.3 million cap hit.
