Chef Jerome Nigel McElroy, often referred to as just "Chef", is a fictional character on the Comedy Central series South Park who was voiced by Isaac Hayes.

"The Return of Chef" is the first episode in the tenth season of the American animated television series South Park. The 140th episode of the series overall, it first aired on Comedy Central in the United States on March 22, 2006.

He ended up dying about 2 years after the stroke. In those 2 years, M&T wrote him out, killing off Chef, and sort of going after Isaac and Scientology in that episode for him quitting and such. Years later, Hayes' son came out and said that he was in no condition to quit.

Dec 19, 2021 · Of course the main reason WAS issac hayes “quitting” South Park, I don’t think many people know the full story about what happened and his health conditions, but if they did keep chef around after Hayes left, he wouldn’t have much of a purpose as he used to.
