Gavi had a full ACL tear, so will have to have it replaced. Assuming Gavi's recovery is handled properly, his performance may not suffer, although ACLs are major injuries that can lead to recurrent or additional injuries. He will have a graft that has to be given time to strengthen - if he is rushed back it is likely to tear as well.

While the MRI is clearly the most sensitive test and can directly visualise the ACL, there are a number of x-ray findings that can also be associated with ACL injuries. This lateral x-ray image shows an impaction injury involving the lateral femoral condyle.
