Visitors are encouraged to check the project My Map (below) before heading up to the reservoir. Take Highway 93 north from Golden to Highway 72. Turn left (west) on Highway 72 toward Pinecliffe and travel about 7.5 miles to County Road 77/Gross Dam Road. Turn right onto Gross Dam Road. Follow Gross Dam Road north to the stop sign.

Jun 27, 2019 · Gross Reservoir, with 440 acres of surface area, nestles among low mountains in the Front Range southwest of Boulder. The lake, owned by Denver Water, is formed by a 340-foot-high concrete dam on South Boulder Creek.

Just a short drive from Boulder, Gross Reservoir offers tremendous but primitive outdoor experiences. The east side of the reservoir is open year-round and open to boating from May to September, but the west side is closed during the winter.
