People are underestimating Ankalaev as well as Hill. Jiri's striking technique isnt quite as good, and yet he was having success on the feet against Alex. You could tell Alex did not like that LHW power, but when he backed up Jiri recklessly charged in and left openings. Ankalaev and Hill won't make the same mistake.

Apr 15, 2024 · Ankalaev is a striker first, who learned grappling after. He prefers striking and uses grappling in plan B. There are no actual wrestlers in this division currently, almeida should cut weight and go to LHW, but he is dumb.

Oct 11, 2017 · From what I've understood, any arabic (or modified arabic) sounding names ending with -ev or -ov is North caucasus, with Magomed being a predominantly "typical" Dagestani name, whilst Chechens still use alot of "old" names (like Aslan, Anzor, Dzokhar, Akhado, Yakha etc.) mixed in with the arabic ones.

Mar 13, 2022 · Ankalaev is a counter striker, very defense oriented and fights conservatively. Seemed like he never wanted to engage Santos even when Santos was against the fence for most of the fight. From his last fight Ankalaev is happy with a decision win. Santos also got clipped twice in R1 from counters, which I think made him also very cautious.

Fights are judged by rounds, not by stats. And rounds are judged on immediate impact and damage, not number of strikes landed. Also - Jan crushing Ankalaev's legs does count significantly more than Ankalaev beefing up his strike count with shot hammerfists in side control. I had it 48-47 for Ankalaev.

Aug 1, 2022 · Stats do not tell the full story at all, Ankalaev has great ground control and GNP, Gaethje has neither. Ankalaev simply doesn't like to use his wrestling since his striking gets it done just fine. Gaethje will have people shooting TDs on him all day long as he's a rookie on the mat. Fighters do not want to take Ankalaev down.

Dec 11, 2022 · I don't agree. Main event result wasn't reasonable and people are just ok with it because Jan is a fan favorite especially here on reddit while Ankalaev is a wrestler they don't know. Paddy decision is also absurd. Worst night of judging in years.
