Krewe of Bacchus | Mardi Gras New Orleans
Now, with more than 1,700 members and 32 animated super-floats, the Krewe of Bacchus is revered as one of the most spectacular krewes in Carnival history. Some of the parade's super floats include the Bacchagator, Bacchasaurus, Bacchaneer, Kong Family, and Baccha-Whoppa.

Krewe of Rex | Mardi Gras New Orleans
The Krewe of Rex is the originator of many traditions of Mardi Gras, including its colors of purple, green and gold, as well as the collectible doubloon coins (introduced by Rex in 1960).
Krewe of Mina Lisa & MoonPie | Mardi Gras New Orleans
The Krewe of Mona Lisa and MoonPie, founded in 1984 by artists Charlotte Lowry Collins and Pat Hart along with their husbands, was created to add a creative twist to Slidell’s Mardi Gras celebrations.
Mardi Gras History
The origins of Mardi Gras can be traced to medieval Europe, passing through Rome and Venice in the 17th and 18th centuries to the French House of the Bourbons. From here, the traditional revelry of "Boeuf Gras," or fatted calf, followed France to her colonies.
Krewe of Zulu | Mardi Gras New Orleans
Today Zulu is famous for their coconut throw – quite possibly the most coveted throw in all of Mardi Gras. Zulu’s honor guard is called the Soulful Warriors; and they have characters including Big Shot, Witch Doctor, Ambassador, Mayor, Province Prince, Governor and Mr. Big Stuff.
Mardi Gras Balls
Mardi Gras balls were exclusive events closed off from most people outside of New Orleans society until this krewe revolutionized the event. In 1949, Edward Brennan Sr. created the krewe, a carnival Ball open to tourists.
